One man's trash is another man's treasure

There are plenty of old bicycles, sitting in backyards or garages, that are beyond riding. So why not repurpose them?

Benjamin Bullins, a New Orleans artist and designer, came up with this custom solution. He put the bicycle in the bathroom. The bicycle forms the pedestal for the ceramic sink. The basket makes a perfect spot for towels.

The installation doesn't take up much visual space in the room. The black-and-white tile floor emphasizes the room's rustic look. The lights flanking the mirror mimic the lamps used to light horse-drawn carriages.

Stylish, lightweight travel bags have replaced those old, heavy suitcases so common decades ago. The suitcases can still be found at yard sales, in attics and in thrift shops. Why not make good use of them? Suitcases can be reshaped into medicine cabinets, bookshelves and cabinets. Take a look!
