Who really represents gun owners?

I have no truck with the vast majority of the 4 million members of the National Rifle Association. The NRA actually has a storied history, dating back to 1871, when the purpose of the organization was the promotion of marksmanship. In the 20th century, the NRA focused on firearms safety and education, the training of law enforcement officers; and hunter education. The NRA even endorsed some of the provisions of the landmark federal Gun Control Act of 1968. Since then, though, the NRA has become a front for the $12-billion-a-year gun industry, made up of the makers and peddlers of firearms and ammunition. Yesterday's Huffington Post details how the firearms industry has subverted the NRA's traditional mission. It's worth reading.
