I've become a big fan of word clouds. They're a great visual tool for understanding complex data. The more prominent the word, the more significant the data. So I was really intrigued by a word cloud developed by pollsters for NBC News and the Wall Street Journal to present common voter attitudes about the Republican Party. The poll provides a stark depiction of how the Republican Party's brand has been damaged:
Not too much in the way of positive voter sentiment, huh?
The Democratic Party has a stronger brand, but it has a few negative perceptions, too. No doubt most of these ("Socialist/Communist" and "Weak/Lazy") come from the extreme Right Wing.
President Obama did a fantastic job in November's election to generate a strong, positive message for voters. Now it's up to his supporters to continue that effort to promote President Obama's policy agenda--and to win local elections in 1993 and congressional elections in 2014.
